We offer riding programs for riders ages 2 through adults. Find the program below that is best for you and your interest.
Pony Partner Class
Pony Partner Classes are designed with our youngest riders in mind. These 45 minute classes cover the basic horsemanship skills of grooming, leading, preparing and (hand-led) riding for the kids. Adults and children learn together in a fun environment. Adults and Children are required to wear closed toed shoes and long pants. Classes are held indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Includes 1 child (age 2-6) and 1 adult (age 18+) Spring & Fall Sessions meet once a week for 3 weeks.
Young Riders Class
Young Riders classes are for kids ages 5-9. These half day classes cover the basic horsemanship skills of grooming, leading, and riding. Riders will also participate in a craft and/or a horse related game or activity. Snacks and water provided. Classes are held indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Young Riders classes are held in the Winter, Spring & Fall.
Horse Club
Have a child who wants to ride and learn more about horses? Sign them up for Horse Club. Kids ages 8 and up will be picked up and dropped off at the Rustad Rec Center in West Fargo and bused to the ranch once a week for 6 weeks. You can also bring your child directly to the Ranch. Each week the kids will have the opportunity to learn how to communicate with a horse both on the ground and in the saddle. They will also take part in a horse related lesson. The kids will be working towards passing the different Horsemanship Levels (1-6). After passing a level they will receive a Rosette Ribbon. Snacks and water will be provided. On the 6th week family and friends are welcome to come and watch the final Horse Club. Spring and Fall Sessions meet once a week for 6 weeks. The bus leaves from Rustad Rec Center a half hour before Horse Club starts and return a half hour after Horse Club ends.
Special Weekly Riding Classes for Levels 5 & above
Rusty K Ranch offers special weekly riding classes for riders who have completed Horsemanship Level 4 and above. Some of the classes that are offered are Drill Team, Mock Show, Western Dressage, Introduction to Western Disciplines, Jumping and more. During these six weekly riding sessions the riders will have fun while learning more different riding techniques. The bus will pick up and drop off at the Rustad Rec Center in West Fargo. The cost of busing is included in the program fee. You can also bring your kids directly to the Ranch. Spring and Fall sessions meet once a week for 6 weeks.
Beyond 6 Horsemanship (B6) Weekly Classes
Rusty K Ranch offers weekly riding classes for riders who have completed the 6 Horsemanship Levels. The Beyond 6 Horsemanship program has 4 more levels for the riders to continue to advance their horsemanship and riding skills. The Beyond 6 Horsemanship levels are A, B, C and D. Riders participate in weekly riding and once they are able to perform the skills of that level, they will move onto the next one. These levels are harder than the 1-6 Horsemanship Levels and require more time. On average our riders have completed a Beyond 6 level in 12-18 weeks. These weekly classes are held throughout the year. The bus will pick up and drop off at the Rustad Rec Center in West Fargo. The cost of busing is included in the program fee. You can also bring your kids directly to the Ranch.
